IT carries its own weight in your program score. IT is one of CommandCenter's seven real departments — cybersecurity criteria spanning CTPAT, PIP and AEO route to it directly. When our founder ruled to route QC onto the criteria it actually touches — “Route it — the score should tell the truth” — the same principle governs every department: a criterion counts toward the company-wide score exactly where the work happens, IT included.

Access control and data protection are IT's to own. Not shared, not implied — assessed as IT's own answers, walked through the same way every other department's claims are: what you say, weighed against what you can prove.

Every department's proof lives somewhere — the Document Tracker holding the files behind every claim, the Policies & Forms library every procedure is written against, the audit trail behind Audits v2. None of it works if the systems underneath it don't. That upkeep is IT's department, named as its own line in your program, not folded silently into “operations.”

The same is true of the credentials that get the company into the government and partner portals a validation runs on. Keeping who has access, and to what, current and provable is IT's job — and it is assessed as IT's job, not left as an unowned gap the way an unrouted criterion can be.
